Sista Girl Designs – Kreo Home ‘Local is the new Black’ giveaway.

Bright and colourful are often words used to describe the things she makes….introducing Sista Girl Designs.  Adele Palmer is the creator of Art, natural skin products and ceramics since her days living in the beautiful town of Broome, Western Australia.

 jshkajsd

Having been born and raised in Tasmania, now the blue skies, red dirt, turquoise ocean and tropical flowers of Broome are so inspiring to her creative side.  Not only did it open her heart to all things warm and beautiful, but also unleashed her love of creativity.

She was working as a qualified primary school teacher in Broome, but this came to a swift end when her market stall filled with beautiful aromatics, colourful ceramics, designs and creations, grew wings and took flight…..how fabulous!

image

Her product range at the moment is primarily jewellery; however she doesn’t limit her creativity and will pretty much give anything a try…go girl! She is a great believer in recycling wherever possible, and has made a limited edition range of timber jewellery, wall hangings and jewellery hangers using the timber from the pelmets which were removed from her lounge room…yep that’s recycling! She has also printed retro images onto the hangers, making them gorgeous, unique and functional additions to any room …she also loves making polymer clay jewellery.

She adores the design process, the richness of the colours and the detail in the patterns, the luxurious opulence of the texture and the shimmer of metallic accents. I love a little touch of metallic in my accessories!

More recently she has been designing her own graphics on paper, which she set under glass for an even more individual and unique design.

Her range includes some funky pieces that combine the elements of polymer clay, paper art and glass…….I just love them! They combine all the things she loves – colour, style, and her unique imprint that truly defines their hand made uniqueness.  She describes her innate style as Contemporary Vintage, however she can adapt to suit the occasion or demand.  Custom orders are a specialty and she has in the past made gorgeous gifts for wedding parties, birthdays, and other special occasions on request.

Sista Girl Designs loves to invoke the wild woman, vintage bohemian, classic beauty or the peaceful warrior in us all, and allow us to be OUR OWN KIND OF BEAUTIFUL!

All pieces are carefully created, fashioned and made with love.

Thanks for being part of the ‘Kreo Home’…#localisthenewblack giveaway!

Ruchi Rai Art – Kreo Home ‘Local is the new black’ Giveaway!

Ruchi Rai is an Abstract Artist based in Sydney, Australia. Her journey with colour and design started in India, where she completed a 3 year Diploma in Textile Design.

While living in India, after finishing her Art and Design qualifications, she gained some experience of ‘free hand’ painting on silk and chiffon sarees, it was apparently just like ‘creating an art on a large canvas’.

Kenai lake

Unfortunately, due to family commitments, she was unable to pursue her dream of becoming an Artist and had to return to work in a Bank, and was there for almost 20 years. However, with the support of her wonderful husband, she entered the world of Art and Design once again only about 3 years ago…how fabulous!

The time had come for Ruchi to get her creative juices flowing again, all she could think about at work was colour, art, paint….so she quit her job and became full-time artist. How exciting, scary and brave would that have been all at the same time!

In 2011- 2012 she completed a ‘Cert IV in Colour & Design’ and 2012-2013 further studied ‘Surface Design’ from ISCD ( International School of Colour & Design) in North Sydney….a course I am currently, slowing making my way through as well.

Lake Hillier

She mainly work with acrylics, washes and sometimes ink. She believes Art is a way to express feelings and emotions that we feel towards people, nature and this beautiful earth that we live in.

She believes in ‘spontaneity’ and ‘free flow’ of strokes and her affiliation with Indian textiles is reflective in her art which feature bold colours, textures and pattern.

Lake Naivasha

Ruchi now works from a small studio at home which is her haven!

Thanks for being part of the Kreo Home ‘Local is the new black’ giveaway….your work is amazing!

Please pop over to her website Ruchi Rai Art….. I think your works are stunning!

Modernist Home – The Rippon House

You will know from my IG page & blog and I am a huge fan of Modernist Architecture.

MODERNIST AUSTRALIA is one of my favourite websites for sharing Modernist Homes & Mid Century Architecture for sale.

A home listed today on the website , The Rippon House, I think has been my favourite to date. Located in the outer suburbs of Sydney, in Wahroonga, surrounded by a beautiful Native garden, I could just about move there from Melbourne! ( If I wasn’t about to start my new build soon…damm!)

Here are some of the images from the listing….

This is my dining area. I had a table custom made made from Blackbutt recycled timer. I love it to bits! My painting featured is by artist Carolyn Sroccynski, even room needs a splash of red I think, or as my grandmother used to say!

‘Open for Inspection’, with ‘Inside Out Magazine’ & Maxa Design.

It was fabulous to be part of ‘Inside Out Magazine’s’ first ‘Open for Inspection’ concept this morning in Melbourne.

IMG_1556.JPG

IMG_1933.JPG ( image via Inside Out)

The weather, which was clearly ordered in for the event, helped showcase the light & bright feel of this beautiful eco friendly home in Melbourne’s east.

It was lovely to be greated
at the door by part of the A team from ‘Inside Out’; Chief Editor, Claire Bradley & Stylist extraordinaire , Lisa Koehlor. Both such lovely people, who you made us feel so welcome. It was only a small group of people who attended, approx 20, so it was great to have a chat & spend time with such wonderful people from the industry.

IMG_1914.JPG

CIRCA HOME scents were used in different spaces of the home to stimulated our senses, just lovely! I was lucky enough to come home with is divine Jasmine & Magnolia Soy Candle, which I am now enjoying at home.

IMG_1973.JPG

We were treated to divine delights from Pot and Pan delicious! ( image via Pot and Pan)

IMG_1941.JPG

IMG_1916.JPG

MAXA DESIGN have created a beautiful home, with a focus sustainability, just stunning!

One thing that was a standout for me was that each room had a story. Beautiful vistas from every angle, where the outside was brought in, with an abundance of natural light throughout. Little vignettes featured in every room drawing you in….and the Art! "The home offers continuous movement", stated Lisa Koehler, so true!

IMG_2017.JPG

I love these little timber guys. I have some in my boys rooms too!

IMG_2018.JPG

It was nice to see that the living space also catered for the children, books stacked away in this stunning shelving unit.

IMG_2019.JPG

The double floor rug, so underrated! It can add another dimension to your space.

IMG_1929.JPG

The home was open plan, yet the dining & living zones were divided by a stunning double fireplace.
A plain brick wall, painted a beautiful dark charcoal, divided the dining & living rooms .

IMG_1937.JPG

Most of the timbers used in the renovation were from the existing home I believe. I particularly loved the detail upon entering the home & the structural timber feature in the kitchen… divine! It drew your eye away from a structural beam overhead which may have been a focal point in some way, if such an amazing feature created in the kitchen / living space wasn’t there.

The huge painted brick wall ( which formed part of the fire place in the living zone) , and subtle tones throughout is beautifully balanced with a stunning ‘Chroma’ vintage poster on the opposing Kitchen wall… Perfect!

IMG_1939.JPG

It was also great to different proportions of artwork, not ‘all behind glass’ being featured, drawing your eye through the rooms.

IMG_1917.JPG

IMG_1925.JPG

Claire Bradley, lead us towards the master bedroom where we saw ‘the bed head’! Some people on social media were a little opposed to it, but I thought it added texture to the room.

The textures in the room made your eyes dance around it! . Lisa Koehler suggested bed linen to suit your lifestyle, so true! Now really, who makes their bed everyday!?!

IMG_1918.JPG

IMG_1935.JPG

IMG_1934.JPG

IMG_1936.JPG

The main bathroom was clean & simple. No fuss! I love the fact that it featured 2 of my favourite bathroom essentials, ‘life’, in flowers & greenery & Art! Big tick!

IMG_1943.JPG

IMG_1942.JPG

A lovely little girls room towards to rear of the house. Such a happy space! ( I am a closet quilter from way back, so to see such bedding on display was lovely.)

IMG_1920.JPG

Artwork was hung up in the hallway by the good old Ikea innovation!

IMG_1938.JPG

Evidence kids actually lived here were around the house which I really liked.

IMG_2014.JPG

Cute little accents …. Oh a little girl in my house would be lovely!

IMG_2013.JPG

What a great way to store the kids toys!

IMG_1911.JPG

Coming from a 3rd generation building & plumbing (retail) background, I LOVE a good kitchen, and this it was! The benchtop was made from an e-zero particle board, environmentally friendly and looked fantastic! ‘E colour’ paint has also been used throughout the home, I’ll be looking into that too.

IMG_1903.JPG

IMG_1875.JPG

A Smeg upright, my favourite, was their chosen upright gas cooker, ( I can wait to have another one in my new build!)

livos floor oil was used on the floors, instead of the normal shine you normally may see on a timber floor. Apparently easy to clean, so a big tick from me!

The garden & outdoor areas were spacious with a focus on entertaining & room to move.

IMG_1913.JPG

IMG_1898.JPG

IMG_1921.JPG

IMG_1922.JPG

A wonderful way to spend the morning, thanks Claire, Lisa & team for having me along, & Maxa Design, for opening the doors to your beautiful home! I’ll be there at the next one for sure !
