With the abundance of ‘do what you love’ vibes emanating from most social media these days, Carol Oakley had been began asking herself the right questions ….

What are the things that bring me joy?

The answer was surprisingly simple for Carol…. creating….colouring-in to be exact. It’s great to have her on board the Kreo Home ‘Local is the new black’ giveaway!

She wasn’t much of a drawer as a child, so blank pages never interested her. But a fresh colouring-in book often took her to her ‘happy place’. She loved colour, techniques and being able to bring pictures to life.

Tuyo Product Shot 1

Tuyo was born out of wanting her wanting to capture that simple joy again.

The fun of creating something beautiful and not needing to start from scratch. Carol wanted to provide something that people could partner with, to give them the first step to creating something unique for themselves.

The idea that a Tuyo book in the hands of five different people could yield such diverse creativity excites her. In a world of duplicates, she wants people to make these prints their own.

Shakiraaz Homewares – Kreo Home ‘Local is the new black’ giveaway!

Shakira Lima is the creative mind behind ‘Shakiraaz Homewares’!

If you like pops of colour and the odd pineapple print….look no further! Maggie from Kreo Home is so happy to have a Shakiraaz handmade original part of the ‘Local is the new Black’ giveaway!

Indigo Oatmeal Paisley Cushion

Shakira is a Melbourne based textile designer with a passion for design, printing & Interiors.

Despite having graduated in ‘Science’ at University, she has always been drawn towards ‘the arts’ from a young age. She was always encouraged by her parents to hand paint, sketch & create…thank goodness for that! She comes from a very creative family, all of whom paint, how fabulous! Sounds like the creative talents run in the family,

Handscreenprinted & handblockprinted linen cushions & planter baskets

While in Australia, Shakira studied Textile design at RMIT and then decided that this would be her career, as she couldn’t stand the thought of being stuck in a laboratory day in – day out.

She has always wanted to start her own business and has created a brand that has a happy mixture of my love from her 2 cultures, Indian and Australian. She also wanted to offer the public products that are totally handcrafted, with an environmental focus. She block prints each fabric piece and sews each cushion! I love her colorful cushions and the fabric baskets are fabulous!

Her most recent range is completely designed & printed here in Melbourne.

Rachael Swift is the creative force behind ‘Rachael Swift Design’.

Kreo Home is so pleased to have such a creative talent on board the ‘Local is the new Black’ giveaway. Maggie stocks an exclusive Rachael Swift Design range in her online store.

Rachael has always worked in the Art & Design industry in some form or another since graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in her early days.

IMG_9906

She has worked in many different areas of the design world; concept design, completed rendered drawings for clients…. all the way through to huge murals…how versatile! She clearly has a passion for all things design and also creates stunning Ceramics, Jewellery, Paintings and large-scale Sculptures.

Rachael was also lucky enough to be a feature artist on ‘The Block Glasshouse’ this year…. what an experience that would have been!

IMG_9889

Her current creative focus however is ‘Sculpting’, developing and creating her amazing Home Décor range. She has been doing this on and off for about 8 years, it’s such an incredible range!

Rachael is a mother to a teenage son, and like most of us finds the balancing act of working and parenting tricky from time to time, but this has also made her focused and resilient to big challenges.  She works out of her design studio on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria.

IMG_9888

Her hand sculptured limestone decor pieces are  inspired by ‘natures form & shapes’, and she is also influenced by Scandinavian Design. She has an appreciation of the ‘Sixty’s’ and ‘Seventies’ design aesthetics, something we both have in common.

IMG_9882

Her work certainly communicates themes of peace, tranquillity and calmness. Her hand sculptured works are made from 30 million year old Australian limestone, how incredible!

Her designs are an Industry standout for their unique forms and stunning ‘on trend’ colours. Her pieces are innovative, creative and all are hand painted. The fact that they are not done in moulds is incredible…… each piece a complete one-of-a-kind.

Small run design ranges are created where each piece is a unique sculpture and signed by the Designer and Artist Rachael Swift.

Du Pré and Moore – Kreo Home ‘Local is the new black giveaway’!

Autumn Du Pré started her business Du Pré and Moore in 2011 out of desperation and a need for a product that she just couldn’t find.

IMG_3185

She wanted a beautiful home fragrance that didn’t cost her the Earth – both financially and organically – and skin care where she could actually read / comprehend / understand all of the ingredients on the back of the label…..don’t you love her already!  She just wasn’t satisfied with what was currently on the market, so swiftly took matters into her own hands!

Processed with VSCOcam with t2 preset

Her candle range kicked off Du Pré and Moore and the skin care was the natural, evolutionary next step in the range.  Now 3 years on, she is currently undergoing a complete overhaul of the Du Pré and Moore brand / packaging strategy and business realignment.

So be sure to stick around folks, BIG things are in the pipeline for Du Pré and Moore.

The mission of Du Pré and Moore is to ‘promote a life lived holistically and organically, through the use of plant-based Earth elements, to put mind; body and spirit in pure harmony with our Earth.  Nutrient-rich botanical oils; butters and waxes, along with the fragrant and healing properties of vital essential oils, are mindfully and intentionally blended to create products that not only nourish the body but heighten the senses and feed the soul’. This product is just good for the soul I think!

12

It is Autumn’s ultimate goal to educate people on the chemicals that go into every day, ordinary products and the damage to our health they can potentially cause. How fabulous, one that I whole heartedly support….hand on heart!

It is her sincere hope that, with knowledge and understanding, minds can be changed and switches to all-natural/chemical-free products can be made.

Thanks so much for donating products to the Kreo Home ‘Local is the new black’ giveaway…..we love products like yours, made with so much passion!

Taylored Dots by Donna Taylor – Kreo Home ‘Local is the new black’ Giveaway!

Now sit down….. as the talent I’m about to share is absolutely incredible……

4

Kreo Home and I are so proud to have such an amazing talent on board the ‘Local is the new black campaign’! ………Introducing the Victorian based, self-taught, creative illustrator  Donna Taylor, the woman behind Taylored Dots’.

She has a unique talent for a drawing technique known as ‘stippling’ or ‘pointillism’ ….in basic terms, she is obsessed with drawing in dots, using only a fine liner…yep those black fine liners!  Some-one throw this woman a sponsorship please!

Donna believes that ‘the detail of a drawing is down to the final dot’, as she ‘freehand dots’ the authentic faces of many people and animals from around the world.

 9

Drawing in this style is something that she initially did in ‘secret’ as a creative outlet. She said her husband ‘outed’ her on social media…. I’d just say he was very proud of his amazing wife, and the rest is history! Donna was so inspired by the lovely comments and feedback, that her business continued to grow from strength to strength.  I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty happy that her husband decided to share the amazing talent of his wife with us!

Her personal favourite pieces are ‘Indian Chief’ and ‘African Goddess’.

‘The Indian Chief ‘ was her first piece, which took over 4 years on and off to complete….and if you look at the intricacy of her work you will understand why!

8

The African Goddess’ is another favourite of hers… just stunning. It turned out just the way she envisioned. It was created during a very challenging time in her life and is very dear to her heart….I have no favourites….I just love them all!

 3

Donna has an amazing eye for detail, admits she’s a bit of a perfectionist, and can be very hard on herself, I think we are all guilty of that from time to time.  She often has a vision of ‘how’ the piece is going to look and feel in her mind before the creating even begins.

Donna draws to relax…..it’s a huge outlet for hers and she really enjoys her own ‘me-time’. Some of us clean, run or cook, she draws……keep drawing Donna, your works are amazing!

2

She draws her inspirations from different cultures around the world, this is a big focus of her work. A lot of her followers love animals, so she tends to draw a lot of them, her daughter loves them too! It such a great subject matter I think, that can be used around your entire home.

9

Look at that picture wall below, isn’t it’s incredible! Featuring framed works of ‘African Goddess’,  ‘Ellie the Elephant’ & ‘Leo the Lion’, stunning!

 1

(Pic Above : Framing By Forman Picture Framing, Styling by Janita McMahon from Calamity Jane Interiors & Mel Turner from Recipes for Design.  – all on IG as well.)

She prints her illustrations onto paper, wood, gift cards, phone covers and is now also collaborating with a children’s wear designer ‘Frankie and Lola’ to bring you a range of illustrated kids tees…how exciting!

Donna is a huge lover of ‘design’ and ‘illustration’ and intends on bringing her works onto cushions, canvas totes and canvases in the near future.

5

Love, love your work Donna!

With a true love for experimenting with materials and colours, I can see a much wider range of products will be available in the near future…….something I’m pretty happy about!  The process of making these amazing concrete pieces is rather involved and I certainly take my ‘hat off’ to anyone with that patience!

Mud By Nest – Kreo Home ‘Local is the new black’ giveaway!

‘Mud by Nest’ is Kim Redpath’s amazing creative business where she hand makes collections of clay ‘Mud Tags’.

She is inspired by her love of colour, texture, the coast…..and little touches of sparkle here and there!  Maggie from Kreo Home was so happy to have Kim’s beautiful creations on board with amazing giveaway!

 IMG_9537

Affectionately known as ‘Mud Tags’, Kim designs, hand makes, photographs & packages each individual clay tag herself with love from her ‘mud kitchen’! …..Ohhh how I’d love to have a play in there one day!

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset

Her clay tags are a perfect ‘gift tag’ for wrapping special gifts, they’re just beautiful! The best thing is, you keep the decoration as a keepsake…awesome!  If you love to make your own homemade treats, they also look great tied around jars, baked loaves, boxed treats or around a pretty bunch of flowers. They can also be hung as decorative pieces around your home.

 Mud by Nest

Names or little messages can also be written upon them too…how cute! There are endless ways to use, share & enjoy her little ‘Mud Tags’.

Kim has a little ‘Christmas theme’ she has launched for the Festive Season, be sure to check them out at her shop!

 IMG_1074

This year she has created a ‘Mud Tag’ to suit almost every Christmas theme – sand, shell & stars for a ‘coastal’ Christmas or for a little Christmas magic….silver sparkly wish stars! Some of her ‘Mud Tags’ are embossed with patterns too….these are my favourite. You can choose from coloured tags with ‘polka dots’ & of just tags with ‘splashes’ of colour. Stars are always a must at Christmas, but a little tiny mud reindeer just has to be the cutest in her range!
